Chaska: Offense on track in four-match winning streak

Four wins in a row, outscoring opponents 20-3, Chaska is official back on track after a 1-3 start.

The Hawks, behind a hat trick from Tommy Picka, won 9-0 over Mankato East at Caswell Park on Tuesday.

Chaska led 5-0 at halftime, getting goals from Dat Nguyen as well as two each from Picka and Hugo Almaraz Aleman.

Marvin Martinez scored for the seventh time in eight matches on a penalty kick goal in the 56th minute for the 5-0 lead.

Will Parra Orjuela, Picka and Omar Cholico also scored in the second half for the Hawks.

Almaraz Aleman, Parra Orjuela and Sam Esping each had two assists for Chaska (5-3), which had 20 shots on net.

Jonathan Early and Eddie Munoz combined for seven saves in the 80-minute shutout.

Chaska is at Richfield at 5 p.m. Sept. 15.

TENNIS: Chaska 5, Bloomington Jefferson 2

Chaska evened its record at 1-1 in the Metro West Conference, moving back above .500 with a 5-2 road win at Bloomington Jefferson on Sept. 13.

The Hawks are 4-3 overall.

It was doubles trouble for the Jaguars with Chaska sweeping all three matches.

Lauren Houseman and Anna Rekow, reunited at third doubles, won 6-1, 6-0 for the Hawks.

Joslin Zaugg and Anna Fauchald (6-3, 6-2) and Gina Gjersvik and Izzy Lahl (6-3, 7-5) helped clinch the victory for Chaska.

Victories on the singles side came from Lexi Bauman (6-1, 6-1) and Sarah Willkom in 12 straight games at second and third singles.

Chaska hosts Richfield at 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 15.

VOLLEYBALL: Chaska 3, Bloomington Kennedy 0

Chaska added a 3-0 win over Bloomington Kennedy, improving to 2-0 in the Metro West Conference on Tuesday.

Game scores were 25-6, 25-16, 25-16.

The Hawks, 5-4 overall, are at Richfield at 7 p.m. on Sept. 15.
