Canterbury Park partners with CAP for school supply drive
Canterbury Park is partnering with Community Action Partnership of Scott, Carver, and Dakota Counties to collect school supplies to ensure all students within the community are prepared for success this school year.
On Sunday, July 29, Canterbury Park will accept backpacks and new, packaged school supplies for students in need in exchange for free admission to that day of racing.
“Project Student Success is vital to our community because it eases the burden on families whose budgets are already stretched thin. A community succeeds when people come together to lift up those in need,” said Jennifer Baker, communications coordinator for the Scott, Carver, and Dakota County CAP Agency, in a press release.
Suggested supplies are erasers, ink pens, folders, markers, glue, pencils, crayons, spiral notebooks, colored pencils, pencil cases, scissors, rulers and backpacks. Items can be exchanged July 29 at Canterbury’s Clubhouse or Grandstand entrances.
“Canterbury Park has a strong history of community involvement. Working with CAP Agency gives our employees another opportunity to assist families in our surrounding area,” Canterbury Park Vice President of Human Resources Mary Fleming said in the release. “This will be our fifth school year of participation and I know our employees will again be generous in their support.”
