St. Cloud shooting last weekend leaves 1 teen dead and 1 injured

One teenager was killed and another was injured in a Sunday morning shooting at an apartment building, according to the St. Cloud Police Department.

According to police, officers responded to a report of gunshots at 2:55 a.m. Sunday morning in the 200 block of Second Street Northeast.

When they arrived, officers found one male with gunshot wounds in the first-floor apartment hallway and another male with a gunshot wound in the stairwell between the first and second floors.

The male in the stairwell, identified only as a 17-year-old from St. Cloud, was declared dead at the scene.

The male in the hallway, only identified as a 19-year-old from St. Joseph, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Police said the shooting was not random and that the suspects and victims knew each other. However, the suspects were not in custody.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.
