Keys for the Vikings
— It’s time for the Vikings to go back to featuring star receiver Justin Jefferson. Though he has proven over the past month or so that his presence can help his teammates get open, Jefferson deserves to feel like he’s having a more tangible impact on the game. If the Vikings want to have sustained success heading into the playoffs, they have to find a way to get their best player the ball.
— On defense, the Vikings must rush the passer with discipline, knowing they are going up against quarterback Kyler Murray on the other end. His ability to create outside of the pocket help the Cardinals move the ball effectively when given the space to do so. This is something the Vikings got a sneak peek at last weekend going up against rookie quarterback Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears.
Keys for the Cardinals
— Though it could be easier said than done going up against a unit that has been stout against the run, the Cardinals must lean on running back James Conner if they want to have a chance at pulling the upset. You don’t want to become predictable going up against Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores. That’s exactly what the Cardinals will become if they aren’t able to get Conner rolling.
— The best player the Cardinals have outside of Murray might be tight end Trey McBride. He has proven to be a matchup nightmare this season. and that’s why he leads the team in receptions (61) and receiving yards (685). He should be a focal point of everything the Cardinals do on offense.
