
Gophers women’s basketball moves to 8-0 with New Orleans rout of Houston
The Gophers women’s basketball team improved its record to 8-0 with a 61-44 victory over Houston on Friday afternoon in a Big Easy Classic game in New Orleans.
Four Minnesota players scored in double figures. Grace Grochoski led the way with 18 points, and Sophie Har, Tori McKinney and Taylor Woodson added 10 each.
The Gophers held Houston to 26 percent shooting to drop the Cougars’ record to 2-5..
Minnesota got 11 rebounds from Mallory Heyer and outrebounded Houston 45-36.
The Gophers play Louisiana-Lafayette at 11 a.m. Saturday in the round-robin tournament. The Rajin’ Cajuns (2-4) lost to Cleveland State 60-42 on Saturday in New Orleans.
