Gophers women’s soccer bows to North Carolina in NCAA Sweet 16
The Gophers bowed out of the NCAA women’s soccer tournament on Sunday, losing to No. 2 seed North Carolina 3-0 in a round of 16 match at Durrance Field in Chapel Hill, N,C.
Minnesota, the No 6 seed in the region, finishes the season with a 14-5-3 record. The Gophers won two NCAA tournament matches, beating South Dakota State and South Carolina over the past week.
It was an historic season for the Gophers, who advanced to the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16 for the first time. This season was Minnesota’s first in the NCAA tournament since 2018.
