Thursday Pickorama
Here we go, the week that determines which 16 teams can book their tickets to Gillette Stadium for the state championships.
Last week, a team we thought had a very good chance of getting there was Springfield Central. BC High, however, had other ideas and put together another signature effort to hold off theWestern Mass. power to advance to the semifinals.
The other loss in our 8-2 week came in the John Papas Bowl where St. Paul’s capped off an unbeaten season by defeating BB&N.
Catholic Memorial over Wellesley: Knights haven’t forgotten what happened at this stage last year.
Duxbury over Tewksbury: Dragons slay underrated Redmen in the Saturday Night Special.
Fairhaven over Swampscott: Justin Marques gets another opportunity to extend his state-record touchdown mark.
Foxboro over Hanover: Warriors continue their torrid late-season run.
King Philip over Marshfield: Warriors have a little too much for the Rams.
Nashoba Tech over Randolph: I’ve been on the Nashoba Tech bandwagon all year long, so might as well stay on.
North Attleboro over Reading: Red Rocketeers have enough to hand the Rockets their first loss.
St. John’s Prep over Needham: Should be one of the better battles in this weekend’s slate of state semifinal games.
Scituate over Grafton: Sailors sail on into the Div. 4 state finals.
Shawsheen over Old Rochester: I’ve gotten burned picking against the Rams twice this year so I am reversing fields.
Walpole over Mansfield: If this game is half as good as last year’s, the fans will have certainly got its money’s worth.
Xaverian over BC High: Hawks get some revenge against their Catholic Conference rivals.
