98.5’s Fred Toucher again rips into ex Rich Shertenlieb: ‘So glad I don’t work with him anymore’
Well that didn’t take long.
Just a couple weeks after 98.5’s Fred Toucher said he would “never” talk about his ex co-host Rich Shertenlieb again, Toucher was back at it.
Shertenlieb’s Boston radio show on 100.7 WZLX was canceled a couple weeks ago after only a five-month run. The ratings for “The Rich Shertenlieb Show” were consistently down in the basement.
Then Shertenlieb on Wednesday claimed that his now-canceled show was making progress before iHeartMedia ended it.
“Just received the ratings for our final full week on the air, and couldn’t be happier to report that The Rich Shertenlieb Show took WZLX mornings from 14th place to Top 5 in a matter of months,” Shertenlieb posted.
“Congrats to the best show crew- Ted Johnson, Michael Hurley, Emerson Lotzia, Kenny Young, and Jojo Benjamin,” he added. “And the biggest thanks to everyone who made the switch. Thank you, we love and miss you all.”
Shertenlieb’s post drew a lot of criticism online, and Toucher dragged him for it during the 98.5 The Sports Hub morning show “Toucher and Hardy” on Thursday.
“I’m just so glad I don’t work with him anymore,” Toucher said. “Because it was bad enough when he was putting garbage tweets up about our ratings when they were good… he’s obviously spiraling. There’s nothing more I can say about it, like it’s such an embarrassment.”
“He’s embarrassed himself,” Toucher added. “And again, the guy has learned absolutely nothing, like zero humility.”
Slimy… snaky,” Toucher added. “I just can’t stand him.”

Toucher took a victory lap earlier this month when Shertenlieb lost his job. Toucher called him a “backstabber” who “does not tell the truth.”
“I can’t imagine he gets another job in the market, so I’ll never talk about him again,” Toucher said at the time.
Shertenlieb, who was on 98.5 for many years before splitting up with Toucher, launched the sports show on the classic rock station in May — along with co-hosts Michael Hurley, Ted Johnson and others.
The ratings for his show ended up being brutal.
“After five months, The Rich Shertenlieb Show will no longer air on WZLX,” Shertenlieb posted earlier this month. “To say that I’m disappointed is an understatement.”
“… Just over two months into the show, management decided to alter the format,” he added. “They wanted music, I did not. However despite my disagreement about the decision, I agreed to move forward and music was added… Thank you to iHeart for the opportunity. Just because we didn’t have the same vision doesn’t mean I don’t thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me a chance to assemble the team I’ve always wanted to work with.”
Shertenlieb’s show on the classic rock station was the third sports talk morning show in the market — trying to compete against 98.5’s “Toucher and Hardy” and WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show.”
