Vikings make change at right guard, start Dalton Risner over Ed Ingram

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In search of a some stability in the trenches, the Vikings are making a change on the interior of the offensive line.

When the Vikings took the field against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon at Nissan Stadium, they did so with Dalton Risner starting at right guard in place of Ed Ingram.

This has been a long time coming as Ingram has struggled with consistency throughout his NFL career. Frankly, it might have happened sooner had Risner not suffered a back injury in training camp.

After working his way through the recovery process, Risner was activated a couple of weeks ago, and now he’s getting his chance to prove that he should be the starter moving forward.

This is the first time Risner has started at right guard in his NFL career. He has operated exclusively as left guard to this point with his biggest strength being his ability to anchor in pass protection.

This could be the beginning of the end for Ingram’s time as a fixture in the starting lineup. He was selected by the Vikings in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and had previously started every game in which he’s been active.
