ROUNDUP

BOYS SOCCER

Boston International’s dream of winning a Division 5 state boys soccer championship ended Saturday morning.

The top-seeded team in the Div. 5 tournament, Boston International was forced to forfeit Wednesday’s 3-2 overtime victory over Tech Boston due to using an ineligible player. In a statement from the MIAA, it was determined that Boston International played a student-athlete in violation of MIAA Handbook Rules 45 and 45.3 – Loyalty to the High School Team: Bona Fide Team Members – in the contest against the Bears.

As a result of the forfeit, Tech Boston replaced Boston International and will play Boston City League foe Dearborn in a state semifinal contest on Tuesday at Madison Park. The teams played twice during the regular season with Tech Boston winning the first contest 3-3 and the two played to a 4-4 tie in the rematch.
