Lucas: Healey digs in on protecting illegal migrants in Mass.

There are three laws pertaining to people stuck in holes.

The First Law of Holes is to stop digging.

The Second Law of Holes is realizing you can’t climb out.

The Third Law of Holes is asking for help.

Gov. Maura Healey has broken all three.

She has dug herself such a deep political hole over illegal immigration that it will take divers from the famous European Association of Cave Rescuers to get her out.

If she wants to get out, that is.

Being the die-hard anti-Donald Trump progressive that she is, Healey just may be relishing her role in “standing up to Trump” by defending criminal illegal immigrants and others who have crossed the border illegally that Trump and most of the American people want deported.

Someone ought to tell the governor to read the room.

The people spoke loud and clear on the issue when they handed Trump an across-the-board landslide victory.

Part of that victory was due to Trump’s promise to rid the country of the untold number of illegal immigrant criminals — murderers and rapists — and other illegal migrants that the Biden administration has waved into the country.

They have wreaked fiscal havoc in cities and towns across the country, to say nothing of the crime sprees seen in New York and other large cities, including gang violence.

While the details have not yet been worked out or announced, dealing with the deportations along with securing the southern border will be among the first things Trump does once inaugurated on Jan. 20 as the 47th president of the United States.

His deportation program will be headed by no-nonsense Tom Homan who will utilize ICE and other agencies to get the job done. Homan will seek the cooperation of local police organizations which, in many cases, have been stymied in jurisdictions controlled by woke Democratic politicians. If he does not get their cooperation he will proceed anyway.

Healey, a long-time relentless Trump critic, is having none of it. She did not sue Trump some 100 times for nothing when she was attorney general, and he was president the first time.

Meanwhile she has had to call out the National Guard to deal with the flood of illegal immigrants — with criminals among them — that have flooded the state. They are costing Massachusetts taxpayers more than $1 billion a year to house, feed and clothe them along with providing medical care, schooling, security and transportation.

“No, absolutely not,” Healey responded when MSNBC’s left-wing anchor Lawrence O’Donnell asked if she would allow the State Police to assist in the Trump deportations.

It is not the first time Healey has supported shielding illegal immigrants from federal authorities.

She began digging her hole back in 2019 when, as attorney general, she backed Newton District Court Judge Shelley Joseph who was indicted and suspended for allowing a twice-deported illegal immigrant fugitive to sneak out the back door of the courthouse to evade waiting ICE agents who wanted to deport him.

She attacked Trump for the Joseph indictment, calling it “a radical and politically motivated attack on our state and the   independence of our courts.”

The charges against Joseph were dropped after Joe Biden replaced Trump as president. Joseph is back on the bench with the locks on the back door of the courthouse presumably changed.

Still stuck in her hole, Healey is doubling down on her attacks on Trump over deportation.

She told O’Donnell, “I think that the key here is that that every tool in the toolbox is going to be used to protect our citizens, to protect our residents and protect our states, and certainly to hold the line on democracy and the rule of law as a basic principle.”

Yes, the citizens need protection. They need protection from criminal illegal immigrants. They also need protection from woke Democratic politicians like Joe Biden who have allowed illegal immigrant gangs into the country to rob, rape and murder innocent Americans.

Meanwhile, Healey, when not attacking Trump, will be seeking more federal funds for immigration from the Trump administration to bail out the Massachusetts taxpayer. Good luck with that.

It is going to be hard to do when you are dealing from a hole.
