Maplewood bicylist dead following vehicle collision in North Oaks

A 72-year-old Maplewood man died Thursday in North Oaks after a car hit him while he was riding his bike.

Deputies were called to the intersection of Deer Hills Drive and Centerville Road in North Oaks, where they found someone administering CPR to the man while he was lying on the road.

The man, identified as Vincent Grundman of Maplewood, was struck by a black 2019 Chevrolet Impala, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

Grundman was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver, an 82-year-old man from North Oaks, remained on the scene and is cooperating with the Minnesota State Patrol, who is leading the investigation.

Investigators do not believe drugs and alcohol played a role in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
