DULUTH — Police on Friday identified five people who died from apparent gunshot wounds, including the suspect, after two incidents Thursday that are believed to be related.

According to the Duluth Police Department, officers responded to a request for a welfare check around 2:10 p.m. Thursday on the 6000 block of Tacony Street and discovered the bodies of Erin Abramson, 47, and Jacob Nephew, 15, both with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

A suspect was identified and officers set up a perimeter at his residence in the 4400 block of West Sixth Street. According to the news release, officers entered the home and located Kathryn Nephew (Ramsland), 45, and Oliver Nephew, 7, dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds, as well as the suspect, Anthony Nephew, 46, with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The locations are approximately a mile apart, with the West Sixth Street scene across the street from Denfeld High School.

Police said the victims and suspect were known to each other and that an investigation is continuing.
