U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum wins reelection in MN 4th District
St. Paul Democratic U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum won reelection Tuesday in her race against GOP challenger May Lor Xiong.
McCollum garnered 67% of the vote compared to Xiong’s 33% with al precincts reporting.
McCollum is Minnesota’s longest-serving representative and now has safely won the seat 13 times, first being elected in 2000. The district is a historic Democratic stronghold held by the party since 1949. It includes Ramsey and Washington counties.
Despite her safe wins in the past McCollum said she doesn’t take any election for granted and had been out in the community hearing from voters about what they’d like to see from their representative, calling the season her “report card time.”
Xiong lost by around 36 percentage points in 2022.
Control of the U.S. House was unclear Wednesday morning as several races were still to be determined.
The 4th District covers Ramsey and much of Washington counties.
