AC Cars Unveils the Electric AC Ace Classic at SEMA 2024 with TREMEC

At the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the oldest active British vehicle manufacturer, AC Cars, turned heads with an electrifying revival of the legendary AC Ace Classic. This new model, crafted in collaboration with TREMEC Electric GT, redefines classic sports car design for a new era, merging nostalgic styling with a modern, high-performance electric powertrain.

A British Icon, Reborn with EV Power

AC Cars’ legacy stretches back to 1901, and with the new AC Ace Classic electric, it’s bringing history to life with a futuristic twist. Known for producing some of Britain’s most iconic roadsters, AC Cars has once again embraced its heritage while looking forward. The AC Ace Classic electric combines the brand’s timeless elegance with cutting-edge technology, featuring a hand-laid carbon fiber body and a bespoke, hand-finished interior. This exclusive electric roadster promises the same spirit of adventure as its forebears—only with zero emissions and fully electric performance.

Uncompromised Performance with TREMEC Engineering

AC Cars’ electrified comeback isn’t just about aesthetics. The AC Ace Classic electric boasts a robust 300 bhp (225 kW) powertrain and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, powered by TREMEC’s advanced eGT413 electric system. The modular EV platform is integrated seamlessly into the AC Ace’s design, allowing for a lightning-quick 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds. With a 72 kWh battery pack, it delivers a respectable 200+ mile range, balancing daily drivability with thrilling performance. TREMEC’s engineers have managed to retain AC’s celebrated 50/50 weight distribution, preserving the car’s hallmark handling and agility.

Taking center stage at SEMA 2024 at booth #21455, the AC Ace Classic electric drew in crowds with its meticulously crafted details. The carbon-fiber bodywork, similar to AC’s acclaimed AC Cobra GT Roadster, is built for durability without compromising weight. Weighing just 1,134 kg (2,500 lbs), the lightweight bodywork contributes to a nimble and responsive driving experience. With 15-inch wire wheels and a 400-volt direct drive powertrain, this roadster offers the best of both worlds: a classic design with electrifying performance.

In addition to the AC Ace Classic electric, AC Cars is introducing the AC Ace Bristol Classic electric, which showcases the iconic “smiling face” front grille that adorned the original 1953 model. This dual approach allows AC fans to choose between two unique designs that pay homage to the Ace’s rich history.

Limited Availability and Customization

For enthusiasts eager to own a piece of automotive history, AC Cars is launching just 49 units of the AC Ace Classic electric for the initial production run, with prices starting at $275,000 (£212,000) before tax. Each unit will be serialized, marking its status as an official descendant of the original AC Ace. Reservations are available exclusively at SEMA or through AC Cars’ official website, making this a truly exclusive offering for collectors and fans of British motoring.

Buyers can further personalize their vehicles through AC Cars’ bespoke service, allowing them to configure their roadster down to the finest detail. In a nod to the Anglo-American heritage of AC Cars, the AC Ace Classic electric will be available in red, white, or blue, with a sleek black leather interior as standard.

Speaking at the SEMA Show, AC Cars Chairman Alan Lubinsky highlighted the significance of this project: “It’s an honor to be at SEMA with TREMEC, and the response to the new AC Ace roadster has been phenomenal. Crafting such an amazing-looking car that draws on the latest EV technology is a milestone for a company that’s celebrating its 123rd anniversary.” TREMEC Managing Director Antonio Herrera added, “TREMEC and AC Cars both understand the importance of heritage and integrity, yet both are committed to challenging convention and breaking new ground.”

Built for the Future, Inspired by the Past

With the AC Ace Classic electric, AC Cars is setting the stage for a new chapter in its storied history. The car not only brings the legendary design of the original Ace into the modern age but does so with an environmental conscience, meeting the needs of today’s performance enthusiasts without sacrificing sustainability.

As the AC Ace Classic electric readies for its 2025 deliveries, it’s clear that AC Cars’ partnership with TREMEC has breathed new life into this storied marque. This electric roadster stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of classic design and innovation—a car that pays homage to the past while leading the way into the future.

For those interested in owning this piece of history, the AC Ace Classic electric awaits at SEMA and online at ac.cars. With its balance of heritage, performance, and exclusivity, it’s a collector’s dream and a symbol of British motoring prowess reimagined for the electric age.
