Appreciation: Lynne Peters Robbins was a champion

Lynne Peters Robbins, who resided at 1 Del Pond Drive in Canton, passed away on the morning of August 14th at the age of 96. If living is a contest, she was a champion.

There is no counting the number of other lives to which she brought starring levels of kindness, joy, and love. Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her remarked on her zest for life, her passionate interest in the smallest details of the events and characters around her, all of which she remembered perfectly and asked about, and her ability to keep laughing in the face of hardship, including her own.

Born in the Bronx to Jewish immigrant parents, Lynne graduated with excellent grades from Taft High School while also reading the Yiddish newspaper to her visually-impaired mother. When she was 16, her father, a house painter, died in an industrial accident, and she began working as a legal secretary to support the family.

As the country was coming out of the Depression and World War II, she married, moved from Brooklyn to Long Island, and raised a family, taking on a multitude of familial responsibilities to educate and inspire her children but also learning to enjoy the blessings of a new and unexpected prosperity. Those blessings included a secondary residence in Sarasota, Florida, where she and her husband Eugene shared their enjoyment of sports and games and socializing with another set of special friends.

Her gift for friendship and her positive attitude toward the world survived the illness and death of Eugene in 1990. She shared her final years with her many friends at Orchard Cove and her very special friend Sumner Borkum. She was sharp as a tack to the very end, sharing her vibrant positivity, open-mindedness, and laughter with all those lucky enough to be around her.

She is survived by her three children, Bruce Robbins, Nancy Nobis, and Jeff Robbins; their spouses, Elsa Stamatopoulou-Robbins, Nannu Nobis, and Joanne Amsterdamska Robbins; her six grandchildren, Sophia Stamatopoulou-Robbins, Maya Nobis, Rohan Nobis, Preeya Nobis, Alex Robbins, and Tali Robbins; and her three great-grandchildren, Themis Heupel Stamatopoulou, Moshe Dovid Kristol, and Yoel Kristol.

Shiva will be on Tuesday, August 20th at Orchard Cove, 1 Del Pond Drive in Canton, Massachusetts from 1-3, and on Thursday, August 22nd, at 76 Shade Street, Lexington, Massachusetts from 6-9.  Donations can be made directly to the Orchard Cove Scholarship Fund and mailed to 1 Del Pond Drive, Canton, MA 02021.
