Fringe review: ‘An Honest History of Bulls*it’ lovingly digs at European, Canadian and American sensibilities
Worth considering
German comic Paco Erhard has a “humble 90-day goal,” according to promo materials for his one-man stand-up: “Fix the US & save the world.” A veteran and jovial Fringe performer, he’s won awards on both sides of the Atlantic for the political humor and cultural commentary that make up “An Honest History” and last year’s MN Fringe near-top-seller, “A 5-Step Guide to Being German.” It’s odd, then, that he struggled to condense his material into a single hour on opening night, repeatedly bemoaning the tyranny of the clock while never so much as mentioning his 90-day goal nor digging deep into the premise of the show’s title. Still, Erhard had some audience members besides themselves with laughter as he lovingly dug at European, Canadian and American sensibilities.
Presented by Paco Erhard and German Comedy International at HUGE Improv Theater; 4 p.m. Aug. 4, 5:30 p.m. Aug. 5, 10 p.m. Aug. 9, 7 p.m. Aug. 10
