Biden drops out, announces he will no longer seek re-election
President Joe Biden has just announced he will not seek re-election.
Biden made the announcement in a letter posted to his campaign account on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I believe it is in the interest in my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden said in the statement.
Biden said he would address the nation in the coming days.
