Gophers basketball: Star Dawson Garcia suffers foot injury, but expected back for season
The Gophers men’s basketball team had an injury scare during summer workouts in July, but it appears likely to be resolved once the season starts this fall.
Dawson Garcia, the U’s all-Big Ten forward, suffered a left foot injury and has since had what was deemed a successful surgery on it, the Pioneer Press confirmed Thursday. 247Sports first reported the news Wednesday.
Garcia’s recovery time will keep him sidelined for the rest of the summer, but the Savage, Minn., native is expected to return to the court come September.
At 6-foot-11, Garcia led Minnesota in points (17.6) and rebounds (6.7) across 31 games last season. In the offseason, the senior decided to return for his third season at the U and fifth overall year in college hoops.
