Dreaming of some chilly weather these days?

Many around the region are probably sick of the brutal heat and humidity, which is expected to stick around through at least the end of the week.

The National Weather Service’s Boston office has issued a “Heat Advisory” for much of Massachusetts through Wednesday evening, which might be extended due to the relentless heat and humidity.

Heat index values could soar to 100 degrees.

“Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses,” NWS warned in the Heat Advisory.

“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” NWS added.

NWS Boston called the conditions “oppressive” in its forecast discussion.

On Thursday, the bulk of the showers and downpours from Beryl’s remnants should remain over northern New England. However, a handful of storms are possible, especially in northern Massachusetts.

“Plenty of moisture to work with as dewpoints rise into the mid 70s!” the NWS forecast discussion reads. “It will feel very humid paired with temperatures in the upper 80s. Can’t rule out that the Heat Advisory will need to be expanded into Thursday.”

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced that the city’s heat advisory is through Friday.

Wu said in a statement, “While this is not a heat emergency, we are advising people to take the necessary precautions such as taking breaks when working outside, staying hydrated, and checking on each other in the heat.”
