Red Sox lineups: Bobby Dalbec to make first MLB start in RF
With the Red Sox ravaged by injuries, Boston’s lineup will look a bit different than usual tonight.
Bobby Dalbec, who has primarily played first and third base in the majors, is scheduled to make his first career MLB start in right field. Dalbec has played 15 games at the position in Triple-A this season, playing 118 innings while recording one error, and the unconventional lineup choice came thanks in large part to both Tyler O’Neill and Wilyer Abreu being unavailable due to injury.
Rob Refsnyder and Jarren Duran will start at left and center field, respectively.
In the infielder, Jamie Westbrook is scheduled to make his first career MLB start. He will play second base and bat fifth, lining up alongside Rafael Devers at third, Ceddanne Rafaela at shortstop and Dominic Smith at first. Connor Wong will catch and Garrett Cooper will serve as designated hitter.
The Red Sox are opting for a heavily right-handed lineup against Atlanta Braves starter Max Fried, who ranks among the best pitchers in the league with a 5-2 record and a 2.97 ERA. Boston will counter with Kutter Crawford, who has been one of Boston’s top starters and boasts a 3.29 ERA alongside a 2-4 record.
