Iceland April 2024: Dacia Duster ultra dominant, Hyundai #1 brand

The Hyundai i10 is up to #2 in Iceland in April.

The Icelandic new car market slows its fall from -71% in March to -16.4% in April at 1,362 sales. This is almost as much as the entire Q1 volume. Year-to-date sales are down -46.4% to 2,747. This month Hyundai (+213.9%) surges ahead to take the brands top spot with a gargantuan 18.2% share, distancing Dacia (+12.1%) at 15.6% and also in solid shape. Dacia is now #1 year-to-date despite a -16.4% year-on-year fall, with Hyundai (+16.9%) at #2. In contrast Kia (-31%) and Toyota (-75.5%) both freefall. Skoda (+192.9%), Suzuki (+72%), Land Rover (+14%) and Mazda (+5.8%) also defy the negative market in the remainder of the Top 10. Tesla is down -74.7% for the month and -84.5% year-to-date.

The Dacia Duster tightens its grip on the models charts with a surreal 15.5% share, almost three times the next model, the Hyundai i10 at 5.5% of the market. The Kia Sportage, Suzuki Swift and Hyundai i20 close out the Top 5.
