Red Sox lineup: Ceddanne Rafaela leading the way against Cardinals ace Sonny Gray
FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Red Sox are set to begin a two-day road swing on Florida’s east coast on Tuesday, and first up they’ll face Sonny Gray and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The former Minnesota Twins ace, who finished second in the AL Cy Young Award vote last season, is coming off a brilliant season in which he posted a 2.79 ERA over 184 innings. He’ll go up against Red Sox starter Kutter Crawford, who is making his first start of the spring, and by a lineup featuring rookies Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu, who are batting second and third respectively and playing center and right field.
Shortstop David Hamilton is leading off, Bobby Dalbec is batting cleanup and playing first base, Pablo Reyes is playing second base and Reese McGuire will be the catcher. Mark Contreras, who has already hit two home runs through the first four days of game action, will serve as the designated hitter.
