Thailand Full Year 2023: Isuzu D-Max keeps lead, BYD up to #6

The BYD Atto 3 is inside the Thai Top 10 in 2023.

The Thai new light vehicle market suffers in 2023 at -8.7% to 755,780 vs. 849,388 in 2022, slipping below Malaysia. Toyota (-7.9%) manages to hold its fall to just below the market rate and as a result improves its share to 34.3%. Isuzu (-28.5%) is in freefall and loses over 5 percentage points of market share to 19.6%. In contrast Honda (+13.9%) defies the surrounding gloom to lift from 9.8% to 12.2% share. Ford (-16.4%) and Mitsubishi (-35.2%) follow. BYD (+9653.8%) ends its first full year in market at a splendid 6th place, taking the lead of Chinese carmakers off MG (+0.1%). Fellow Chinese EV brand Neta (+1257.8%) brilliantly breaks into the Top 10 at #10.

Model-wise, the Isuzu D-Max (-29.8%) holds onto the pole position but goes from 21.4% to 16.4% share. Its advantage over its main rival, the Toyota Hilux (-21.2%), also in a bad way, thaws from 36,000 to 12,700 sales. The Toyota Yaris Ativ (+110.3%) leaps up three spots to #3 thanks to a new generation. As a result the Honda City (-6.4%), Ford Ranger (-1.6%) and Toyota Fortuner (-5.5%) all drop one spot despite improving their market share year-on-year. The Honda HR-V (+51.3%) and BYD Atto 3 (+6058%) both crack the Top 10.
