Let us introduce the Victor, the wildest Q by Aston Martin-Commission project to date. I got the chance to savour and photo this gorgeous car at Concours of Elegance 2020. Its 7.3-litre V12 makes this bruising full-carbon fibre one of the most powerful road-going, naturally aspirated product, and the highest-performing manual powertrain in the marque’s history. Developed for a private customer and unveiled against the backdrop of the Vantage nameplate’s 70th anniversary, this road-legal creation has been fittingly inspired by the privateer Le Mans 24 Hours Aston Martin entrant, the RHAM/1, and the iconic V8 Vantage of the 1970s and 1980s.

It takes its name from Victor Gauntlett, Aston’s former executive chairman and marque steward during the ’80s. The Victor boasts colour schemes reminiscent of the V8 Vantage road car’s, with an industry-leading Pentland Green finish and satin carbon fibre complementing its dramatic exterior form. Along the sides, a continuous hard line provides a powerful square-like shoulder that follows towards the extreme rear boat tail. This theatrical element-derived directly from its forebears-continues to deliver on an impression of overt performance and aerodynamic capability.

Inside, the cabin is cloaked in high-grade Forest Green and Conker Bridge of Weir leather, while the headlining is finest tailor’s cashmere. These luxurious materials juxtapose with the highly technical carbonfibre chassis, which is largely exposed throughout the interior. Anodised aluminium plus machined and polished titanium hardware adds to the high-grade finish. Along with the crown-cut solid walnut features across the dashboard, making it a single machined piece to adorn the manual gearknob. A familiar feature to Aston Martin aficionados is the Vulcan motor sport-derived steering wheel.

The Victor is a melting pot of technical highlights from the highly limited, iconic One-77 and the track-only Vulcan, meaning the model matches the inferred performance in its design. In addition, the car benefits from the technical expertise of the same engineers and technicians who have been heavily engaged in the ongoing Aston Martin Valkyrie programme.

Under the sculpted bonnet sits that V12, which Cosworth has retuned to a unique spec. It produces 836bhp and 821Nm of torque, uprated from the One-77’s 750bhp and 750Nm. It feeds the rear wheels via a six-speed Graziano ‘box. Perhaps in contrast to the muscle cars of the 1970s and ’80s, the Victor has been engineered to deliver exceptionally focused dynamics. To this end, it is equipped with the same inboard springs and dampers as the Vulcan. The six-way adjustable set-up meets the demands of imperfect road-driving conditions.
