Austria November 2023: Hyundai (+80.1%) and Dacia (+62.2%) impress
Hyundai sales are up 80.1% year-on-year in November.
The Austrian new car market edges up 4% year-on-year in November to 18,900 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 11.7% to 220,653. Volkswagen (-15.9%) is the most popular carmaker in the country again but suffers a steep year-on-year fall and can only muster a weak 12.5% share vs. 14% so far this year. Skoda (+56.3%) rallies back up to 10.8% share at #2, distancing BMW (+4%) matching the market. Hyundai (+80.1%) and Dacia (+62.2%) deliver the largest year-on-year lifts in the Top 17. Tesla (+48.6%), Mazda (+58.3%), Nissan (+60.5%), Mitsubishi (+119.9%) and Mini (+49.4%) shine below. BYD is up three spots on last month to #24.
The Skoda Octavia (+114.2%) surges ahead to reclaim the top spot it holds year-to-date with a dominant 2.9% share. The VW Golf (-2%) signs one of its strongest results Europe-wide in 2nd place and despite a small year-on-year drop. The following four models all at least double their year-ago volumes. The BMW X1 is up 126.6% to #3, the Dacia Sandero up 162.9% to #4, last month’s leader the Skoda Enyaq is up 108.7% to #5 and the Tesla Model 3 is the best performer, soaring 496.8% to #6. Just below, the Tesla Model Y drops -20.9%. The Hyundai Tucson (+50.7%) and BMW X3 (+31.7%) close the Top 10 very solidly.
