Cunningham was elevated last week but didn’t play a single snap in a 6-0 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. He’ll serve as wide receiver depth behind DeVante Parker, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton and Jalen Reagor with rookies Demario Douglas (concussion) and Kayshon Boutte (shoulder) already ruled out. It’s also possible that he could receive snaps at quarterback in relief of starter Bailey Zappe. Cunningham, a college QB, has primarily played wide receiver for the Patriots but has practiced at quarterback and received snaps under center during the preseason.

The Patriots also needed depth at running back with Rhamondre Stevenson out indefinitely with an ankle injury. Harris, Ezekiel Elliott, Ty Montgomery and JaMycal Hasty will be available at running back.

The team did not elevate a cornerback from their practice squad which could lead to rookie Alex Austin’s team debut after he was signed last month.
