Battenfeld: Will Democrats accept 2024 election results if Trump wins?

While Democrats launch their latest attack on Donald Trump – calling him a dictator who will refuse to leave office – the real question is will Democrats accept Trump as president?

History and comments from Democratic operatives suggest the answer is no.

There is no way Democrats will go along with a Trump victory and treat him as commander-in-chief. There will be endless protests, upheaval and legal attempts to deny Republicans the win.

They’ve tried indictments, that hasn’t worked yet. They tried to tie Trump to the insurrection and that hasn’t worked.

Now Dems are arguing that he will destroy democracy.

Just check out what former U.S. Rep. and Democratic darling Liz Cheney has to say. The defeated congresswoman has been on a book tour and working in academia – which is what happens when voters throw you out.

She told NBC that Trump will refuse to leave office and use the military if necessary to install himself as a permanent president if he’s elected.

“People have to recognize that a vote for Donald Trump is a vote against the Constitution,” she said, predicting Trump would be a dictator.

“In my view, fundamentally, there is a choice to be made,” she said to CBS News. “You can’t both be for Donald Trump and for the Constitution. You have to choose.”

Cheney also agreed that new Speaker Mike Johnson was a “collaborator to overthrow the last election.” Asked what would happen should Johnson become speaker in 2025, she replied, “He can’t be.”

Denial much?

Then there’s Jim “The Undertaker” Acosta’s interview with disgraced former Sen. Al Franken, who also was in denial over a Trump win.

Really, is that the best the Democrats can offer? A disgraced former comedian and an egomaniac CNN host?

The Democrats’ attempts to deny the results of elections date back at least to when George W. Bush became president, then continued when Trump won in 2016. Remember the dour faces of Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton on inauguration day?

“Resist” and “Not my president” were rallying cries.

Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets when Trump won the election. You can guarantee there will be many more if Trump should win again.

And Democratic elected officials will be bringing in the best lawyers to overturn the election. And if the Supreme Court won’t do it, they’ll bring in more Democratic justices to do the job.

It’s never-ending.
