Douglas’ availability for this weekend’s game against the Chargers is now in grave doubt. The rookie took a blow to the head while returning a punt in the second half of Sunday’s loss to the Giants. He was later ruled out with a head injury and entered concussion protocol on Monday.

Fellow rookie wideout Kayshon Boutte also missed practice Thursday due to a combination of a shoulder injury and an illness. Boutte was limited in Wednesday’s padded session by the shoulder injury. Offensive tackle Riley Reiff (knee) sat out Thursday, lowering his chances of being activated off injured reserve.

Nine Patriots were listed as limited, including running back Ezekiel Elliott (thigh), linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley (hamstring) and left tackle Trent Brown (ankle/chest). Running back/wide receiver Ty Montgomery returned to full participation Thursday after being absent Wednesday due to an illness.

In Los Angeles, Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen, who leads the league in catches, missed practice for a second straight day.
