Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas entered concussion protocol this week after taking a hit to the head in last weekend’s loss to the Giants, a source told the Herald.

Douglas was one of two players to miss practice Wednesday, along with veteran wideout/running back Ty Montgomery. The sixth-round rookie is currently the Patriots’ leading receiver with 36 catches for 410 yards. Douglas got injured on a punt return in the second half of Sunday’s game.

This is Douglas’ second concussion of the season, after he suffered one during a Week 5 home loss to New Orleans. Douglas missed the Patriots’ next game, a road loss at Las Vegas, then returned the following week.

Without him, the Pats’ receiving corps would be down to JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Tyquan Thornton, Kayshon Boutte and Jalen Reagor. Parker caught three passes for 42 yards against the Giants, while the rest of the receivers combined for 39 yards. Reagor was a healthy scratch.

The Pats will release their first injury report of the week Wednesday evening.
