Bill Belichick’s answers about Patriots’ QB situation only create more questions

During his weekly appearance as an analyst on NBC’s “Football Night in America,” McCourty said Sunday night he would want a different quarterback for the Patriots.

“If I play defense on that team, I want somebody new,” McCourty said. “Someone that hasn’t been out there.”

Against the Giants, Mac Jones went 12-of-21 for 89 yards and two interceptions. He also ended the Patriots’ 2-minute drill before halftime with a strip sack. Bill Belichick then benched Jones for the fourth time in 11 games this season.

Backup Bailey Zappe took over in the second half and went 9-of-14 for 54 yards and a pick. He also took two sacks. The Patriots lost a second straight game while allowing just 10 points, and remain the only team in the NFL to lose like that this season.

“We gave up 10 points, and lost the game two weeks in a row. So now, we’ve gotta give up zero,” Pats safety Adrian Phillips told the Herald. “Whatever we can (do) to get our offense the ball back and get a chance to win. If 10 ain’t enough, then we gotta bat 1.000, and give up zero.”
