Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs enjoyed watching his parents go viral
Vikings quarterback Josh Dobbs saw the posts on social media. His parents were in the spotlight last weekend with the Vikings playing the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football. Nearly every time he made a play on the field, the camera would pan to his parents Robert and Stephanie in the stands.
“They were aware they were going to get some TV time,” Dobbs said. “They did say, ‘We’ll put y’all on the TV probably pregame, and then during the game, we’ll keep it on the football.’ Then after every touchdown, they kept turning it to my parents. They had fun with it.”
So did the Internet.
There was a particular moment from the game that showed Robert and Stephanie looking rather disinterested. Somebody took a screenshot and posted it on the website formerly known as Twitter, with the caption, “Josh Dobbs parents still wish he worked for NASA.”
That post got more than 3.5 million views, and hilariously, Dobbs found it so funny that he even reposted it to Instagram.
“We’re working on their excitement level,” Dobbs said with a laugh. “It’s a work in progress. I’ve sent them the film. They’ve looked at.”
All jokes aside, Dobbs enjoyed watching his parents go viral. He credits them for giving him so much, so he appreciates when they get to share the spotlight with him.
“They feel really cool that they’re getting shoutouts on TV,” Dobbs said. “It’s good to see.”
Mullens, Hall practice
It seems as if the Vikings will have a full complement of quarterbacks when they play the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
Both veteran quarterback Nick Mullens (back) and rookie quarterback Jaren Hall (concussion) have been full participants this week in practice, which would suggest both could be available for the Vikings against the Bears. If that’s the case, Dobbs would be the starter, Mullens would likely be the backup, and Hall would likely be the emergency guy in a pinch.
Evans still not full
It’s unclear if cornerback Akayleb Evans (calf) will be ready to go for Monday’s game. He sat out last week and has been a limited participant this week. If he can work his way into being a full participant, he will have a chance.
Meanwhile, receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) and tight end T.J. Hockenson (ribs) also have been limited participants this week.
