Mac Jones says he hasn’t been told if he’s still Patriots starting QB
In Mac Jones’ radio appearance Tuesday afternoon, a lack of information became news.
Jones said on WEEI’s “Jones and Mego with Arcand” that he hasn’t been told he’ll continue to be the Patriots’ starting quarterback after being benched in Sunday’s loss to the Colts after an interception. Bailey Zappe took over for the Patriots’ final two-minute drill down 10-6 and tossed his own pick.

“No, we haven’t talked about that,” he said. “Really just, today we watched the game film and kinda talked about the plans for the bye week, so. We have practice tomorrow so. Just see how it goes there and the bye week’s a great time to work on things that you can do better so, that’s what I’m going to do.”
Belichick also said Tuesday morning that the Patriots hadn’t decided on their starting quarterback for Week 12.
Jones also said that the X-ray he underwent in Frankfurt, Germany didn’t show anything and that there isn’t an injury he’ll be rehabbing during the bye week.
Jones was asked Sunday if something “mechanical” caused him to throw an interception on what wound up being his final target of the day before being benched for Zappe.
“There were some things I was working through, but it doesn’t matter,” he said at the time. “No excuses.”
He was asked about what he was “working through” on WEEI.
“Yeah, I think in a game there are things that pop up,” Jones said. “But there’s nothing serious that caused any issues.”
Jones said Sunday he only suffered a bruise.
The Patriots have Jones, Zappe and Will Grier at quarterback on their 53-man roster. Quarterback/wide receiver Malik Cunningham remains on the team’s practice squad.
Wednesday’s practice could be telling for who will start at quarterback next week against the Giants.
