Patriots owner Robert Kraft broke his silence on the Patriots’ ‘disappointing’ season

Patriots owner Robert Kraft said what his fanbase has been preaching all season Sunday morning on NFL Media.

Kraft was asked about the Patriots’ season that currently sees his team last in the AFC East with a long path out of the basement of the division.

“This our 30th year that I’ve had the privilege of owning this team. And I’ve never been 2-7. So, it’s really disappointing,” Kraft said. “I had hoped that things would be a lot better, as I know our fanbase did. And I hope today is a chance to reset and make this a much better year. This isn’t what we were expecting to happen this year.”

The Patriots were optimistic heading into the 2023 season, but injuries on defense and inefficiency on offense have them currently staring at a top-five pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

There have been questions about Bill Belichick’s status as head coach, but Belichick wasn’t asked about his head coach by NFL Network’s Rich Eisen. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that Kraft is “not inclined” to fire Belichick midseason. Rapoport also noted that Belichick’s current contract runs through the 2024 season.
