New Hampshire man arrested for allegedly storming the Capitol on Jan. 6
Another alleged Jan. 6 Capitol rioter has been arrested in New England, according to the FBI.
New Hampshire man Shawn D. Mahoney was arrested on Thursday for allegedly storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as Congress counted the Electoral College votes to officially clinch the presidency for Joe Biden.
Mahoney, of Bristol, N.H., was wearing a shirt that read “TRUMP PENCE” while he allegedly joined then-President Donald Trump supporters in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6.
“Today, the #FBI arrested Shawn D. Mahoney, of Bristol, NH, for his alleged actions during the 1/6/21 U.S. Capitol breach, bringing the total number of people we’ve arrested from our area of responsibility, which includes ME, MA, NH, & RI, to 31,” FBI Boston posted.
The feds identified Mahoney from photos inside the Capitol on Jan. 6.
FBI special agents interviewed a manager with Mahoney’s former employer. The manager confirmed that Mahoney was the photographed person who was inside and around the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Mahoney is facing charges for: knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business; disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.

Mahoney’s criminal complaint noted that it’s a federal crime to “utter loud, threatening, or abusive language, or engage in disorderly or disruptive conduct, at any place in the grounds or in any of the Capitol buildings with the intent to impede, disrupt, or disturb the orderly conduct of a session of Congress.”
A federal defender has been appointed to represent Mahoney, who reported that he was unable to pay for an attorney.
The U.S. District Court judge ordered Mahoney to be held. His next court appearance will be on Thursday, Nov. 16 in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
