Cape Cod man charged with 11 counts of rape involving 3 women
A Cape Cod man is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail after being charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting three different women in his garage, which also served as his home office.
Barry Viprino, 42, of Harwich, was arraigned in Orleans District Court Thursday on 11 charges of rape, one count of indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years old or older and illegally possessing a large-capacity firearm.
The charges are across two different cases: one involving a woman prosecutors are calling Victim 1 who brought the allegations against Viprino and another involving two other women who came forward with their own allegations during the police investigation into the first woman’s allegations.
Victim 1 said that she was in Viprino’s garage/home office in August when he locked the door and pulled up his shirt to reveal a gun before telling her to take off her clothes and lay down on the couch. She told police she did as she was told out of fear and that Viprino then sexually assaulted her.
That same month, Viprino also allegedly began sexually assaulting Victim 2, who told police that he also forced her to sell vape pods to her underage friends and that if she didn’t meet his quota he would punish her with further sexual assaults.
Victim 3 appears to be an acquaintance of Victim 2 as she told police that he also sexually assaulted her in his office as well as in Victim 2’s house. Victim 3 told police Viprino promised this would happen at least three times a week.
