Parts of Massachusetts could see some snow, sleet, freezing rain: ‘A few slick spots on roads are possible’
Drivers across parts of the region might see some slippery spots this week, as the next weather system could bring light snow and ice for the higher terrain.
While much of Massachusetts will deal with periods of rain from late Wednesday into Thursday, a light wintry mix will be possible in the Worcester Hills and Berkshires — especially across the higher elevations.
Any accumulations would be very light, but the main concern is for light freezing rain and light icing mainly at elevations over 1,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
“Our next weather system will bring periods of rain late Wed night into Thu,” the National Weather Service’s Boston office posted.
“Pockets of sleet and freezing rain with light icing is possible over the higher elevations in the Berkshires and Worcester Hills through Thu morning before changing to all rain,” NWS Boston added.

The National Weather Service may have to issue a “Winter Weather Advisory” for parts of the high terrain, with the greatest risk along the east slopes of the Berkshires.
Temps there will be hovering around 32 degrees.
The National Weather Service’s forecast discussion reads, “Impact will be minimal and confined to high terrain where a few slick spots on roads are possible. Any freezing rain over the high terrain will transition to rain in the afternoon as temps moderate.”
