Pharms Jr. is in his second NFL season. He’s appeared in three games this season and recorded one tackle. The team spent all three of Pharms Jr.’s available elevations from the practice squad in Weeks 4-6. He has been inactive the last two weeks.
Pharms Jr. fills the open roster spot created by offensive tackle Calvin Anderson landing on injured reserve Friday. The 6-foot-3, 300-pounder should provide depth on the defensive line with Davon Godchaux (illness) and Christian Barmore (knee) listed as questionable on the team’s injury report.
Pharms Jr. joined the Patriots last year and spent the entire season on the practice squad. He arrived in New England after being selected in the 2022 USFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Maulers, for whom he tallied 32 tackles and two sacks in 10 games. Pharms Jr. began his college career at Sacramento State and finished at Friends University in Kansas, where he managed 14.5 sacks in a single season.
McDermott has been elevated for a second straight week. He can play left and right tackle. The Patriots listed left tackle Trent Brown as questionable on their injury report with a bad ankle and knee, which kept him out of two practices this week.
The Patriots and Commanders will kick off Sunday at 1 p.m. from Gillette Stadium.
