The council on Wednesday consented to Mayor Melvin Carter’s appointment of both Brendmoen and Courtney Henry, a business owner and former chair of the Midway Chamber of Commerce.

They’ll take the place of Nneka Constantino and John Bennett, whose six-year terms expire at the end of this month.

Brendmoen did not seek reelection last year and left the council after 12 years in office representing the 5th Ward.

The Port Authority is an economic development agency that seeks to expand the city’s tax base and serves as a channel to job opportunities and sustainable development.
