Matthews wins Triple A debut as Saints roll

Zebby Matthews pitched five solid innings in his Saints debut Sunday as St. Paul beat the Toledo Mud Hens 10-3 and finished off a three-game sweep of their International League series in Toledo, Ohio.

Matthews gave up two runs on four hits in his five innings of work. He struck out six and walked none.

Chris Williams went 4 for 4 and hit a two-run homer for the Saints, his franchise record-tying 43rd round-tripper with the team. St. Paul also got two runs batted in each from Wynton Bernard and Anthony Prato.

Injured Twins reliever Brock Stewart made his fourth rehab appearance for the Saints in the sixth inning. It was his most impressive outing as he struck out the side on 11 pitches. His fastball averaged 96.4 miles per hour and topped out at 97.2 mph.

The Saints return to action Tuesday night when they play host to the Omaha Storm Chasers at CHS Field.
