Vikings sign rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy, rookie edge rusher Dallas Turner
With the Vikings set to begin training camp this week at TCO Performance Center in Eagan, they announced on Sunday afternoon that they have officially signed rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy and rookie edge rusher Dallas Turner.
Though it took a while for the Vikings to work things out with McCarthy and Turner, the two first-round picks, it always felt like only a matter of time before both players put pen to paper.
Now they are both under contract as the Vikings prepare to get rolling.
The decision to select McCarthy with the No. 10 pick in the 2024 draft signaled the start of a new era for the Vikings. He’s the heir apparent under center in Minnesota, with veteran quarterback Sam Darnold currently operating as the starter.
As for Turner, the No. 17 pick, the Vikings coveted him so much that they traded up to get him. He has an abundance of talent and more than likely will be a weapon for defensive coordinator Brian Flores from the onset.
