Daniel J. Stacey, 60, of Stillwater, was convicted in Ninth District Court of two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 16, soliciting a minor to engage in sexual conduct and distributing via electronic communication material that relates/describes sexual conduct to a child. All four counts are felonies.

On June 14, Stacey pleaded guilty in two separate court cases. According to the petition to enter a guilty plea, the state prosecutor agreed to drop the remaining charges, withdraw its Blakely motions (seeking a sentence that exceeds state law) in both cases and recommend concurrent guideline sentences.

Stacey was originally charged with 11 felony counts, all brought forth by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

On July 8, Ninth District Judge Patricia Aanes ordered a psychosexual evaluation and pre-sentencing investigation. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 13.

Stacey is a retired law enforcement officer, former Hubbard County commissioner and former Nevis Public Schools bus driver. According to court records, he currently lives in Stillwater, Minn.
