Lakeville drowning victim identified

A 26-year old who drowned on July 13 in Lakeville has been identified as Reynaldo Antonio Patishtan Hernandez from Northfield.

Dakota County Sherriff’s Office, Lakeville Police and fire departments responded to a reported drowning on Lake Marion at Antler’s Park in Lakeville around 5:30 p.m. on July 13.

According to witnesses, a wave from a nearby boat caused two men to fall into the water and both were unable to swim. A bystander, who lives in Burnsville, entered the water and rescued a 19-year old man, according to Dakota County authorities, but Hernandez submerged before he could be rescued.

At around 8 p.m., the sheriff’s office dive team located Hernandez roughly 40 yards offshore in eight feet of water. No alcohol is believed to be involved in the drowning, according to Dakota County Sherriff’s Office.
