Boston radio great Matt Siegel, the longtime host of “Matty in the Morning,” has finally gotten the call to the national Radio Hall of Fame.

Siegel — a staple on Kiss 108 for more than 40 years — is one of eight new inductees into the Radio Hall of Fame, according to the Museum of Broadcast Communications.

“I am greatly honored to have been inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame,” Matty in the Morning posted on social media.

“For those of you who stayed with me and my little radio show all these years, I can’t thank you enough,” the account added.

Last month, Siegel posted that he had yet again been nominated for the Radio Hall of Fame.

“Fourth in a row,” he wrote. “They have to let me in… Right?????”

After Siegel retired in 2022, the Kiss 108 “Matty in the Morning” show was rebranded to “Billy and Lisa in the Morning” with Billy Costa and Lisa Donovan.

They congratulated Siegel during Tuesday’s show, as Donovan called him a “radio icon.”

“Forty-plus years, one of the biggest and best morning shows in the country,” Costa said. “Congratulations to Matt.”

Siegel was previously inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

He started on Boston radio as a fill-in for Charles Laquidara on WBCN in 1977, according to his bio. Siegel was then hired as the station’s midday host through 1980. He also hosted “5 All Night, Live All Night” on WCVB-TV.

Siegel was hired by WXKS-FM in 1980, and took over the morning show there the next year.

In May 2022, he announced his retirement after more than 40 years on the air.

The other inductees in the 2024 class are: The Crook & Chase Countdown (Lorianne Crook and Charlie Chase); Lee Harris; Phil Hendrie; Jaime Jarrin; Kraig Kitchin; Barry Mayo; and Mary McCoy.

“The Radio Hall of Fame welcomes eight new members that have made a lasting impact on the industry,” said Dennis Green, co-chair of the Radio Hall of Fame. “This class, like the ones before it, exemplifies the highest standards of excellence that radio broadcasters have upheld throughout radio’s rich history, making this medium so special to generations of listeners.

“These individuals have entertained, informed, and enriched listeners with their special talents, and it is an honor to recognize them as the Radio Hall of Fame Class of 2024,” Green added.

The inductees will be honored at the 2024 Radio Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Sept. 19 in Nashville.
