Cyprus May 2024: Hyundai Tucson #1 again, Kia Stonic takes YTD lead

The Kia Stonic is now #1 year-to-date in Cyprus.

According to our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT, the Cyprus new car market brakes -24% year-on-year in May to just 1,301 sales. However the year-to-date volume remains in positive at +12.9% to 7,373 units. Kia (-20.3%) stays atop the brands ranking with 20.5% share vs. 19.4% so far this year. It distances a surging Hyundai (+99%) at 15.8% share vs. 8.4% year-to-date. Toyota (-10.6%) rounds out the podium and falls significantly slower than the market. Audi (+71%), Dacia (+45%) and Renault (+9.1%) stand out with splendid gains in the remainder of the Top 10 with Porsche (+28.6%), Honda (+18.2%) and Mazda (+57.1%) also strong below.

Model-wise, the Hyundai Tucson (+160.3%) repeats at #1 with a stunning 12.6% share, more than double its YTD level of 5.9%. The Kia Stonic (+43.1%) is up one spot on April to #2 and snaps the year-to-date lead in the process. The rest of the Top 5 is entirely in positive with the VW T-Roc (+22.6%) the most dynamic ahead of the Kia Sportage (+19%) and Nissan Qashqai (+19%).
