My Dad The Bounty Hunter Canceled On Netflix

Netflix’s animated series, My Dad The Bounty Hunter, has been canceled on the streamer after a successful run of two seasons. Even though the series was highly acclaimed and had a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Netflix dropped it. Created by Everett Downing Jr. and Patrick Harpin, the show first premiered on Netflix on February 9, 2023. Its subsequent season dropped on August 17, 2023.

The show, which is loved for its relatable characters and plot, revolves around two kids who stow away on their father’s latest business trip. They discover that their dad is an intergalactic bounty hunter.

Netflix quietly canceled this show, as per a report by What’s on Netflix. Everett Downing Jr. confirmed the news through an email to the media outlet.

“I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to work with such an incredible team of partners and artists, he said.

“It’s so unreal watching your ideas come to life! Everyone who worked on the show fell in love with Terry, Tess, Lisa, Sean, and the entire cast of quirky, wild, and crazy characters. Who knows, maybe I’ll be able to revisit this world again someday. For now, these characters and stories will be living rent-free in my heart for the rest of my life,” Downing Jr. added.

The series garnered positive viewership on Netflix and made its way to the list of the global top 10 for the English language. After the release of its first season, the show was also rated among Nielsen’s top 10 original streaming series. Some reports by Netflix also show that both seasons garnered millions of viewing hours.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Netflix has canceled any kid-friendly or family-friendly original. Many shows, such as Ada Twist, Scientist, Ridley Jones, Spirit Rangers, Oddballs, Maya and the Three, He-Man, and the Masters of the Universe, saw the same fate.
