Will there be a Blue Bloods season 15?

Deadline confirmed on November 20, 2023, that the 14th season of Blue Bloods will be its last. The two-part fourteenth season started airing its first ten episodes on February 16, 2024. Moreover, the remaining eight episodes, which comprise the second part, will premiere in October 2024, with the last episode slated for release in December this year.

Why was Blue Bloods season 15 canceled?

The reason to end this long-running drama was nothing but monetary. CBS pulled the plug on the show because of the high cost of production. Not only this, the fourteenth season was itself renewed after difficult negotiations. CBS pushed for major budget cuts of 25% for above-the-line talent, including actors.

In order to keep the show running and avoid the unemployment of hundreds of individuals, the cast and producers agreed to a salary reduction.

“In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions and Blue Bloods, and CBS’ hit Fire Country shows huge promise.” 

This statement has led to speculation that Blue Bloods will be getting a spinoff. There is no official word on it right now, but the spinoffs for Dexter, Billions, Fire Country, and NCIS have been announced.
