Singapore April 2024: BYD equals share record at 17.6%, sales up 58%

BYD sales are up 5-fold year-on-year in April.

The Singaporean new car market rallies back up 58% year-on-year in April to 3,452 units, the best April result since 2021. The year-to-date tally is now up 33.8% to 11,614. Toyota (+51.5%) advances to 19.8% share vs. 17.2% so far this year, but the hero of the month is once again Chinese BYD (+402.5%) up 5-fold year-on-year to a record-equalling 17.6% share. Below BMW (+39.8%), Mercedes (-16.3%) is the only Top 12 member in negative. Hyundai (+489.2%), Tesla (+275%), Mazda (+90.3%) and Kia (+79.8%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10.
