Iraq Q1 2024: Toyota Hilux topples Kia Frontier
The Toyota Hilux is now the best-selling vehicle in Iraq.
The Iraqi new vehicle market amounts to 36,943 units over Q1 2024. Toyota overtakes Kia to lead the brands charts with 31.9% share vs. 26.5% for Kia. Hyundai comes in third with 11.4% of the market with all other brands below the 7% mark. MG is 4th ahead of Suzuki, Chevrolet and Nissan. GWM soars to 8th position, one of 4 Chinese brands in the Top 11: Changan ranks #9, Geely #10 and Haval #11.
We have a big event atop the models ranking. For the first time since we started following the Iraq market in 2024 the Kia Frontier is not the best-seller. It was toppled by the Toyota Hilux for 1st place over the period. Although note we are still treating 2023 Full Year data so the Hilux may have won then too. The Kia Sorento completes the podium above the Hyundai Tucson and Toyota Corolla. Notice also the MG 5 at #7 and the Toyota Urban Cruiser HEV at #10.
