Patriots 2023 schedule: Analyzing all 17 games from London to West-Coast trips
Start planning your trips.
The Patriots’ 2024 regular-season schedule was finally released Thursday night, featuring one primetime game, a season opener against the Bengals, no games on Sunday or Monday night and a midseason trip to London.
Based on winning percentage (.512) from last season, the Patriots have the NFL’s eighth-most difficult schedule, which isn’t ideal for a team that went 4-13 in 2023. Even worse, their schedule ranks second-toughest based by opponents’ over/under win totals, per Vegas oddsmakers.
They’ll fly the fourth-most miles (25,071) with two west-coast trips and a flight overseas.
Below is a game-by-game breakdown of their upcoming season.
Week 1: at Cincinnati
Sept. 8, 1 p.m. ET
The Patriots kick things off against Joe Burrow and the Bengals. Assuming Burrow is healthy, this will be a challenge for new head coach Jerod Mayo and whoever is playing quarterback for the Patriots, whether that’s Jacoby Brissett or Drake Maye. The Bengals have the fourth-highest over/under win total at 10.5, per ESPN Bet, which is tied for the second-highest in the AFC.
Week 2: vs. Seahawks
Sept. 15, 1 p.m. ET
The Patriots and Seahawks tend to play classic games against one another. In 2012, it was the Richard Sherman “U Mad Bro” win over Tom Brady and the Patriots. There was, of course, Super Bowl XLIX. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks came to New England last in 2016 to beat the Patriots, and in 2020, Cam Newton nearly mounted a comeback in Seattle but came up short. There will be a lot of new faces this time around, however, as Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll are both out as head coaches in New England and Seattle, respectively. This is the easiest game for the Patriots in the early portion of the season, as the Seahawks’ over/under win total is set at 7.5.

Week 3: at N.Y. Jets (TNF)
Sept. 19, 8:15 p.m. ET
The Patriots didn’t get to play Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers last season, since he tore his Achilles in Week 1. Assuming Rodgers recovers and is still on the field, this game in the Meadowlands on Thursday night could have some juice. It’s never ideal to play on Thursday night following short rest, but at least the Patriots will still be relatively fresh early in the season.
Week 4: at San Francisco
Sept. 29, 4:05 p.m. ET
The first of two west-coast trips, the Patriots must face off against the reigning Super Bowl runner-ups in their most difficult matchup of the season, on paper. Expect the Patriots to leave early for this matchup. They won’t be staying out west for the week, since the NFL didn’t schedule their other west-coast trip against the Cardinals in Week 5.
Week 5: vs. Dolphins
Oct. 6, 1 p.m. ET
The Patriots don’t need to worry about traveling to Miami in early October, but they also don’t get the advantage of playing them in the cold. This will be another difficult matchup for Mayo and Co. The Dolphins’ under/over win total is 9.5.
Week 6: vs. Texans
Oct. 13, 1 p.m. ET
No longer a walk in the park after finding a franchise quarterback in C.J. Stroud, the Texans’ over/under win total is also set at 9.5. The Texans went 10-7 last season with Stroud as a rookie. The Patriots are hoping to mimic that success if Maye starts this season.
Week 7: at Jaguars (London)
Oct. 20, 9:30 a.m. ET
The Patriots will play in Europe for the second straight year and have to hope this year’s game goes better than their embarrassing 10-6 loss to the Colts in Frankfurt, Germany last season. The Patriots had the option to take a bye week after their London game but declined.
Week 8: vs. Jets
Oct. 27, 1 p.m. ET
Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez will know Rodgers and Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson well, playing them again five weeks later.
Week 9: at Tennessee
Nov. 3, 1 p.m. ET
The easiest game on the schedule on paper, the Patriots still might not be favored in this game since it’s on the road. The Titans’ over/under win total is 6.5. To hit the over, Titans second-year passer Will Levis will need to take a jump under new head coach Brian Callahan, who takes over for Mike Vrabel.
Patriots back James Robinson looking forward to showing his mettle
Week 10: at Chicago
Nov. 10, 1 p.m. ET
This could be the battle of rookie quarterbacks with Caleb Williams on the Bears and potentially Maye starting by this point for the Patriots. The Bears have a better supporting cast around Williams, however, with D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze at wide receiver.
Week 11: vs. Rams
Nov. 17, 1 p.m. ET
A rematch of Super Bowls XXXVI and LIII, the Rams went 10-7 last season but their over/under win total in 2024 is set at 8.5.
Week 12: at Miami
Nov. 24, 1 p.m. ET
The weather will have cooled off in South Florida by this pre-Thanksgiving matchup against the Dolphins, making it easier to keep up with the speed of wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Week 13: vs. Colts
Dec. 1, 1 p.m. ET
The quarterback play will look much different in this rematch of last season’s game in Germany. The Patriots traded Mac Jones to the Jaguars while ex-Colts starter Garnder Minshew is now playing for the Raiders. Could we see Maye vs. Colts 2023 first-round pick Anthony Richardson?
Week 14: BYE
Week 15: at Arizona
Dec. 15, 4:25 p.m. ET
The Patriots get to escape the cold for their second west-coast trip of the season to face off against Kyler Murray, Marvin Harrison Jr. and the Cardinals. This is another one of the Patriots’ easier matchups on paper with the Cardinals’ over/under win total set at 6.5.
Week 16: at Buffalo
Dec. 22, 1 p.m. ET
The Patriots finally take on Josh Allen and the Bills in Buffalo in this pre-Christmas showdown. The Bills are projected to win the AFC East, per Vegas oddsmakers, but they lost their top two wide receivers this offseason in Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis.
Week 17: vs. Chargers
TBD
After winning just five games in 2023, the Chargers replaced Brandon Staley is Jim Harbaugh. With Justin Herbert at quarterback, oddsmakers still believe in the Chargers and set their over/under win total at 8.5.
Week 18: vs. Bills
TBD
